Australia crushed England by 120 runs to go 2 up in the Ashes series:

Australia pace bowlers Starc & Hazzlewood rip through England batting line up in a thrilling second Test match. England were looking strong as they resumed their innings on 176-4 with skipper Root unbeaten on 67.

Hazzlewood removed Joe Root in 3^rd over of the final day. Starc ended with bowling figures of 5-88.

Australia are 2 up in the Ashes series 2017.

"We always had the faith in the team and the belief," Steve Smith said.

"We thought if we could come out and bowl well this morning, hit our lengths and get one or two wickets then things can happen quickly."

Entire England team collapsed after their captain left.

"Disappointing. I don't think we did ourselves justice," Root said.

"We're still massively in the series. We showed that from the way we played yesterday.

"That has to be the benchmark how we approach the rest of the series."

Woakes was removed on the second ball in the morning for 5, caught behind in Hazzlewood bowling.

Lyon was once again successful in dismissing Moeen Ali for the 4^th time in the series, trapped him lbw as he tried to sweep.

Overton, Stuart Broad & Bairstow were removed by Starc to finish the England innings on the final day.

Shaun Marsh received the player of the match award for his century in first innings.

Captain Joe Root sweat Australia & raised hopes of a sensation win in the second Test after bowling out Australia for 138 in second innings.

Australia dominated in the first 3 days but England captain want to achieve a record run chase at Adelaide Oval with a not out fifty.

Australia captain is criticized for not enforcing a follow on even Australia took a first innings lead of 215. Smith also spoiled 2 reviews & dropped a difficult catch.

England were 176-4 at stumps day 4 with Root unbeaten on 67 & Woakes on 5. England need 178 more runs to win the second Test match.

Australia lost 4 crucial top order batsmen for 53 last night. England lost their both openers before the dinner break.

Cook shared 53 run opening partnership with Stoneman but Lyon removed Cook. Stoneman was dismissed later for 36. 

Australia collapsed to 53-4 in second innings against England but took a 268 runs lead with 6 wickets left.

Australia were sent to bat first & they declared their first innings on 442-8 in second Test.

England came back in the game after trailing by 215 runs in 1^st innings. England only managed to score 227 runs in their first innings.

Lyon took 4-60 as Australia dismissed England for 227 in first innings

Australia top order failed against the moving ball under the lights. At the end of the day, Aussies were 53-4 with Handscomb on 3 & Lyon unbeaten on 3.

Anderson removed Bancroft (4) & Khawaja (20) while Woakes dismissed Warner (14) & Smith (6) in the final session. Smith was trapped leg before by Woakes.

Lyon took a stunner to remove Moeen Ali (25) in his own bowling. Lyon was once again proved lethal against England. He showed outstanding performance in the field too after his quick throw to run out Vince in the first Test.

Later Bairstow was dismissed by Starc for 21. Broad & Anderson gave away their wickets shortly to Lyon to finish the England first innings.

Lyon finished with 4-60 & became the leading wicket taker in 2017 with 55 wickets, one more than Rabada. 

Mitchell Strac provided the breakthrough as Stoneman was trapped lbw for 18, to give England a skaky 29-1 after rain brought an end to this day.

Alastair Cook was playing on 11 with James Vince who has not added any run to his tally before the closing of the day.

Stoneman also wasted 1 review which made things even worse for England just before the closing of the day.

Shaun Marsh achieved his 5^th Test hundred as Australia put England under pressure, making Root pay for sending the hosts in to bat.

Shaun Marsh made a not out 126 off 231 deliveries.

England coach Trevor Bayliss is confident that if Marsh can play big knock so can England. He added that two or three England batsmen need to go out & make big runs.

"There’s a good feeling in the dressing room," England coach said.

"They’re certainly not disheartened at all. Shaun showed it’s not impossible to score runs out there. It will be up to one or two of our guys to go out and make a big score, not just 40 or 50."
