Sri Lanka's players reluctant to visit Lahore for third T20 match:
Team Sri Lanka do not want to visit Pakistan for the third & final T20 that will be held on 29 October at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Sri Lanka players are reluctant to visit Pakistan
40
players have handed a letter to the board indicating the reluctance of players
to tour Pakistan for the last T20 match.
The
letter was signed by the complete current squad & contracted players back
home, has asked the Sri Lanka cricket board to consider a venue change.
Sri
Lanka cricket team bus was attacked in Lahore in 2009 & players were sent
back to home & after that incident international cricket teams do not visit
Pakistan. Pakistan have to host their home series on a neutral venue in UAE.
"SLC
will have a quick chat to the players very soon. We don't intend to disturb
them in middle of a series, but we are left with no option but to address the
issue. The ICC also will meet the players on Saturday to brief them about the
situation in Lahore," Cricbuzz reported, citing an SLC source.
Earlier
SLC approved PCB request to send its team to Lahore for the final T20 on 29
October against Pakistan.
Pakistan
had successfully hosted PSL 2017 final & Independence Cup in Gaddafi
Stadium Lahore this year & they are looking forward to host International
cricket teams but unfortunately Sri Lanka players are reluctant to visit
Pakistan due to security reasons.
