Virat Kohli’s ton as New Zealand beat India by 6 wickets with 1 over remaining.
Tom Latham & Ross Taylor helped New Zealand chase down 281 runs target
Latham
who made not out 103, smashed his fourth ODI ton & his partner Taylor made
95 before getting out in the second last over.
New
Zealand openers Martin Guptill (32) & Colin Munro (28) helped the Kiwi’s
take a good start while chasing a big target of 281 runs, but India came back
in the game as Bumrah removed Colin.
Kuldeep
Yadav took New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson wicket early.
New
Zealand were 80-3 when Tom Latham & Ross Taylor were on the crease &
they sunk India completely with singles & doubles while hitting few
boundaries. New Zealand did not take risks while racing towards the target
& they outsmart the Indian bowlers with their shot selection & running
between the wickets.
The
pair did not hit the spin duo of Yadav (1-64 in 10 overs) & Chahal (0-51 in
10 overs) & managed to add runs with singles & doubles. The most
important part was the Indian spin duo took only 1 wicket while giving away 125
runs in 120 balls.
Ross
Taylor batted brilliantly & he faced 100 balls while smashing eight
boundaries while Latham punished Indian bowlers with eight fours & two
sixes in 102 balls.
From
India side, captain Virat Kohli secured his 31st ODI ton & he
was the one who survived despite wickets falling on regular intervals. Virat
Kohli is now ahead of Ricky Ponting in number of tons scored in the one day
internationals.
Virat
Kohli scored 121 off 125 balls to lift team India to 280-8 in 50 overs.
Trent
Boult removed both the Indian openers & he concluded the innings with
bowling figures of 4-35.
