India beat Sri Lanka in third ODI to lead the Test series 3-0:

India beat Sri Lanka in third ODI by 6 wickets to lead the five match Test series 3-0. Sri Lanka batted first & they scored 217-9 in 50 overs. India showed an all-round performance & they snatched the victory out of Sri Lanka’s pocket. Sri Lankan bowlers dismissed four Indian batsmen early that put India in huge trouble but MS Dhoni for the second time in the series, took the game out of the jaws of defeat. He was joined by opening batsman Rohit Sharma who secured his century & took the game away from the Sri Lanka. In the end India defeated the hosts by 6 wickets to seal series victory.

India had to chase down a low target & they didn’t get a good start as Dhawan was removed by Malinga for 5.

The next man in was Kohli & he was dismissed by Fernando for just 3 runs. KL Rahul gave a bit of a start & he made 42 runs partnership but soon unlucky Rahul gave away his wicket to Dananjaya. Jadhav stuck in the trap of Dananjaya & he could not even score a single run.

The 2 quick wickets put huge pressure on India & Sri Lanka was right back in the game after their batsmen failed. MS Dhoni came in & he played a sensible innings with Sharma & these two put on a dazzling partnership. Rohit Sharma made his 12^th ODI ton to take India out of trouble.

Dhoni became the 4^th highest run scorer for India. Tendulkar (18,426), Ganguly (11,221) & Dravid (10, 768) are the top three highest run scorers for India.

Dhoni celebrated his fifty that put a smile on the faces of Indian fans. Earlier in second ODI, MS Dhoni completed a record breaking hundred run 8^th wicket partnership with Bhuvi after Dananjaya removed six Indian batsmen in a single spell. India lost 7 quick wickets & they were 133-7 but Dhoni & Bhuvneshwar made a huge partnership & in the end India won 3 wickets.

Just before the conclusion of the third Test match, the home crowd started throwing water bottles, forcing a 35 minute stoppage & then the batsmen returned to the ground to chase down the remaining 8 runs required for victory.

Earlier paceman Bumrah took his maiden five wicket haul in ODI which helped India restrict the hosts to 217-9. Bumrah ended up with amazing figures of 5-27 which is also his career best. Jasprit Bumrah also received the man of the match award.
