Australia is in trouble against Bangladesh in first innings of first Test match:
Australia
lost three wickets for 18 runs at stumps Day 1 after restricting Bangladesh to
260-10 in first innings.
Maxwell
said before the Test series that Australia is wary of the threat posed by
Bangladesh’s spinners.
Bangladesh v Australia first Test match updates
Team
Australia have not won a single Test series in the subcontinent since 2011 when
they defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 & they have been doing their homework playing
spin bowling on slow & turning pitches.
Australia
have not played a Test in Bangladesh in last ten years & they could not
prepare themselves for these slow & turning tracks as their practice match
was washed out because of flooding. Ponting’s team played their last Test in
Bangladesh back in 2006 & they successfully won the series 2-0.
Australia
practiced against the leg before decisions in the nets without wearing a front
pad, a lay designed to highlight the importance of using the bat in order to
avoid lbw against spin bowling attack.
Renshaw
& Smith are out in the middle & it will need a big effort from these
two to play against the Bangladesh’s bowlers to take their team out of trouble
tomorrow morning. The day went into the favor of Bangladesh just before the
stumps & the bowlers would be preparing hard to take a first innings lead.
The only thing that can hamper the first Test match is the weather which
doesn’t look promising & let’s hope that everything will go smooth.
Bangladesh
have put a big threat in the minds of Australian batsmen. A partnership of 155
b/w Tamim & Shakib lifted Bangladesh to 260 in their first innings. When
Australia batted in the final session; Rahim called upon the spinners on an
unpredictable wicket that was turning, bouncing, staying low & causing all
sorts of threats for the batsmen. Mehedi Hasan took the first breakthrough
& then unlucky Khawaja was dismiised via an unnecessary run out while the
night watchman Lyon was sent back to pavilion too.
