England v West Indies second Test match Analysis:
Brathwaite
& Hope both scored splendid tons as West Indies secured a first innings
lead against the hosts on the second day of the second Test match.
West
Indies were 329-5 at stumps, 71 runs ahead of England first innings score &
still have five wickets left.
Shai Hope's maiden Test century
England
batted first & they were all out for 258 in their first innings. West
Indies lost one wicket for 19 at stumps day One but they came strong on the second
day as Brathwaite (134) & Shai Hope (147*) made a fourth
wicket partnership of 246 runs.
The
partnership took West Indies out of trouble after Anderson had removed Bishoo & Kyle
Hope early on day two.
England
had dropped the third pace-man Toby Roland-Jones in this match. Roland-Jones
had taken 14 wickets in three Test matches since his debut against South Africa.
England
earlier defeated South Africa 3-1 in Test series at home with Roland-Jones’ amazing
bowling who also removed Amla three times in two Test matches.
After
the West Indies resumed the day on 19-1, Anderson removed Bishoo & Kyle
Hope & left West Indies in serious trouble.
Earlier
Ben Stokes made hundred & captain Root made 59.
Both
English batsmen, however, were dropped in the slips on single figures. All-rounder
Stokes was dropped again just before he scored 100.
The
three missed chances conceived 142 runs that took the edge off an improved
Windies bowling effort.
Paceman
Gabriel was recalled in this match who had amazing bowling figures of 4-51 & he was
joined by Roach 4-71.
England
beat West Indies by an innings & 209 runs in first Test to lead the three
match Test series 1-0. Now it is time for West Indies to take revenge.
