Wasim Akram Set to Miss IPL 2017:
Legendary former Pakistani all rounder and captain Wasim Akram has been working with IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders since 2010 will not take part in upcoming season due to family commitments. Wasim Akram took break from IPL in 2013 due to same reason. Wasim Akram took role of KKR bowling coach in 2010, he has been working hard with bowlers and helped KKR win IPL 2012 and IPL 2014 titles. Wasim Akram has performed well as part of KKR coaching staff and mentor. He has also spent a lot of time with young Indian bowlers and identified few hidden talents in the past. Wasim Akram is set to miss IPL 2017 as bowling coach.
KKR managing director and CEO Venky Mysore wished Akram best of luck and said, "We will miss Wasim bhai who has been part of the KKR family over the last few years and has played a significant role in our title triumphs in 2012 and 2014". Wasim Akram absence might effect team bowling performance, no official announcement of replacement has been made by KKR.
Wasim Akram will not participate in Indian Premier League 2017 edition. A statement released by KKR said, “Bowling coach and mentor, Wasim Akram will miss the upcoming IPL 2017 season.” Wasim Akram wants to spend bit more time with his family and said. He would miss the team’s dressing room environment and wished the team luck. Wasim Akram said, “I have loved the camaraderie in Kolkata Knight Riders’ team and have enjoyed every opportunity to mentor the highly talented side over the years,” he added. “I am surely going to miss being part of the dressing room but I wish the team continued success.”
Wasim Akram will take a break as Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach and mentor in Indian Premier League 2017 due to professional commitments and time constraints.
