NSW beat QLD in Matador Cup Final 2016:

New South Wales Blues win Matador Cup Final 2016 by beating Queensland Bulls by 6 wickets with 41 balls remaining. Matador One-Day cup final was played between Queensland and New South Wales team  at Hurstville Oval, Sydney on 23 October 2016 (50-over match). Queensland team started game as favorite and is on top of points table with 21 points and New South Wales team made it to finals by beating Victoria in qualifying match with second highest points of 17 in table. NSW Blues won the toss and decided to bowl first. NSW brought IN Nathan Lyon, Nick Larkin and Harry Conway while Hughes is still accessed for concussion and Josh Hazlewood and Ryan Carters are rested.

NSW v QLD Final Highlights:

Queensland Bulls batted first and scored only 186 runs all out in 47 overs. Skipper Usman Khawaja was top scorer with 35 runs from 52 balls. Nathan Lyon was the best bowler for New South Wales blue, he took 4 wickets for just 10 runs from 10 overs with an economy rate of 1.00. NSW in reply 3 quick wickets for only 19 runs. But NSW skipper Henriques 85 runs and 77 not out by Patterson put on 131 runs partnership and took game away from Queensland. Most successful bowler for QLD is Michael Nesser who took 3 wickets for 20 runs from 9 overs at economy rate of 2.22. It is back to back trophy for New South Wales team.

Queensland captain Usman Khawaja said before start of game, "It's always nice to play against NSW because you know they're going to come quite hard," Khawaja said. "The Blues bowling attack is always strong but ... we've won five out of six games, we're not going to take a backwards step. If we play to our best we can beat anyone."

NSW captain Henriques talked about Khawaja in pre-match conference, "It's good to see him back and it'll be a great challenge playing against him on this sort of ground. He obviously makes their team a lot stronger." Henriques said, "Nathan's a world-class spinner … he's always got good spirits in the change room and the team is always better for having him around."
