PSL 2017 Franchise Players and Captains

PSL 2017 Player List and Captains:

HBL Pakistan Super League Player Draft was staged at The Dome of the ICC Cricket Academy. All five franchises picked 20 players each during the draft from a pool of over 400 players. There is increase in number of foreign players in next edition of PSL 2017. Najam Sethi made an announcement of holding PSL 2017 final in Lahore and all overseas players signed this agreement that they will play final in Pakistan if their team make it to final of tournament. Najam Sethi also presented team owners a baggy green cap that players used while playing 400th test match in history of Pakistan.

PSL 2017 Team Configuration:

Each team comprises of 5 groups, Platinum (three players), Diamond (three players), Gold (three players), Silver (five players) and Emerging group (two players). Last team in PSL 2016, Lahore Qalandars had the first pick in the draft while winner of PSL 2016, Islamabad United had the last pick. Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators retained majority of the squad while Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars who almost changed their teams entirely. West Indies cricket star Chris Gayle was traded by Lahore Qalandars to Karachi Kings. Each players in Platinum round were presented a jersey with their names in encrusted jewels sponsored by Swaroskvi. 

PSL 2017 Final in Pakistan:

All players would be given VIP security in the final match in Pakistan. PCB has bought 4 bullet proof buses to maximize security of players visiting Pakistan. It will be a fly-in and fly-out plan for the final game. Najam Sethi told press, "The second edition of the PSL, with five teams in the competition, will be more successful and the final will be held in Lahore," Sethi, who is also the head of the PCB executive committee, said. "International players know what we can do; most of them are ready to come to Pakistan and play. We have signed players with a condition that if their team reaches the final, they will have to go to Lahore and they have all agreed. "It will be a fly-in, fly-out plan and the government has promised to give full security to the players. We are convinced that the final will happen in Lahore." 

Lahore Qalandars Squad:

Platinum groups includes Brendon McCullum (New Zealand), Sunil Narine (West Indies) and Umar Akmal (Pakistan). Captain of Lahore Qalandars team is not decided yet.

Karachi Kings Squad:

Karachi Kings were lucky to get explosive batsman Chris Gayle in platinum category. Kieron Pollard (West Indies) and Shoaib Malik (Pakistan) are other 2 players in this expensive group. Kumar Sangakara will be captain of Karachi Kings franchise.

Peshawar Zalmi Squad:

Pakistan retained Shahid Afridi in platinum category, however Afridi won't lead the team this time. Eoin Morgan (England) and Wahab Riaz (Pakistan) are other 2 members of Platinum group. Darren Sammy is captain of Peshawar Zalmi team.

Kevin Pietersen (England), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Pakistan) and Ahmed Shehzad (Pakistan) are the three players in Platinum category of Quetta team. Sarfaraz Ahmed is captain of Quetta Gladiators.
