Ashes 2017-18: Warner & Bancroft march Aussies towards victory:

David Warner & Cameron Bancroft steadied the run chase with over hundred opening stand. Australia only require 56 more runs to win the first Test against England.

Warner & Bancroft struck 114 runs partnership in second innings

England only managed to score 195 runs after losing all 10 wickets in the second innings.

The Aussies who are unbeaten at Gabba fortress since 1988 are now only 56 runs short to get one up in the Test series.

Australia were 114-0 at stumps. Warner was playing on 60 & Bancroft made an unbeaten 51.

Warner reached his 25^th Test half century off just 74 balls & he struck seven fours while Bancroft secured his first Test fifty off 111 balls.

The match was 50-50 b/w the old rivals over the first three days but Steve Smith’s scored a not not 141 & Hazzlewood grabbed two wickets to get their hands on the game.

Australia destroyed the England batting line-up on the fourth day as tourists lost last 6 wickets for adding just 82. Joe Root dominated after opening batsman Alastair Cook failed but once the skipper was removed, the entire team collapsed.

Hazzlewood was the bowler who provided the breakthrough as he trapped Root leg before wicket. Hazzlewood finished with 3-46 off 16 overs.

Lyon removed inform batsmen Stoneman & Malan as they both were edged to the slip & were caught by Captain Steve Smith.

Moeen Ali was stumped for 40 by Tim Paine in Lyon’s bowling. The TV umpire required more replays before deciding that the England batsman’s back foot was not behind the crease.

Lyon took 3-67 & he reached the mark of 274 wickets in 70 Tests to become Australia’s highest wicket taking off spinner.

Starc also grabbed three wickets including Bairstow, Woakes & Broad & he finished with 3-51.

Bairstow smashed 42 off 75 deliveries before he was caught in the slip. Broad was caught behind after scoring only 2 runs while Woakes was Smith’s fourth catch of the second innings.
