Catches are very important when you are fighting a big team. New Zealand dropped few simple catches of top Indian batsmen including Rohit, Dhawan & Kohli. After giving so many chances, the Indian batsmen registered 202 runs on the board in 20 overs. Team India also dropped a couple of catches as Munro & Kane Williamson got another chance after being dropped by Indian fielders.

At the conclusion of the first T20, New Zealand only scored 149-8 in 20 overs.

This was the farewell match arranged for Ashish Nehra. New Zealand were not allowed to hit big boundaries & the asking rate was increasing throughout the Kiwi’s innings. The Indian bowlers bowled in line & kept on taking wickets.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss & decided to bowl first. New Zealand would be in a strong position if they did not give chances to Dhawan, Rohit & Kohli. The two openers made 80 each & Kohli smashed 26 off 11 balls to raise their team to 202-3.

The asking rate was rocketing & New Zealand was taking risks & losing wickets at regular intervals. New Zealand being the no.1 T20 team were expecting more from their team.

The pitch was taking turn & Chahal removed the Kiwi batsman in his first over. Patel only gave 4 runs from the other end. He later removed Tom Bruce & Colin de Grandhomme as the required run rate was going high. Team India showed all-round performance in batting & bowling.
