ICC World XI players arrive in Lahore today:
ICC
World XI players arrived at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport &
the team was welcomed by the PCB chief Najam Sethi. World XI team led by Faf du
Plessis arrived a day before the T20 series against Pakistan that will be
held tomorrow at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

West
Indies’ Samuel Badree will join the World XI team in Lahore later today.
After the team arrived in Lahore, the World XI coach, Andy Flower, thanked the PCB for a warm
welcome & he told that he was
looking forward to a good series against Pakistan.
Andy
Flower said, "It's great to be here; we're looking forward to seeing a lot
of you watching the great cricket we put on the show,".
World
XI coach added, "We've had a warm welcome. Thank you very much,".
The
World XI team will play three T20 matches against West Indies. We have added

PCB
is hopeful that the series will end with peace & the international cricket
will soon return on Pakistan soil. The gate is open for new generation to watch
their heroes play in front of them.
The
tickets of Independence Cup have been sold online. The stadiums will be
full of Lahori crowd during the three match T20 series.
Eight
thousand police units & paramilitary forces will protect the World XI team
as they safely travel back & forth from Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The
roads & shops will be closed around the 27,000 capacity venue while the spectators
will have to cross several security checkpoints.
The
ICC has accorded international status on the matches. The ICC teams ranking will
not be affected but the players have the opportunity to boost their individual
ICC rankings.
The
World XI team has players from 7 different countries. Faf du Plessis, Hashim
Amla, David Miller & Imran Tahir are the South African players who will
play for World XI team. Samuel Badree & Darren Sammy are part of World XI
squad from West Indies. George Bailey, Ben Cutting & Tim Paine are the
players from Australia. Paul Collingwood, Tamim Iqbal, Grant Elliot &
Thisara Perera are the other players of World XI squad who will play against
Pakistan in T20 series starting on 12 September 2018.
Shahid
Afridi wished Indian players to be a part of World XI team. He added that the
World XI tour is a big step towards revival of international cricket in
Pakistan.
In
an interview to BBC Urdu, Afridi said he was happy that international
cricketers will once again play on Pakistani soil & he added that it would
be better if Indian players were also part of the World XI squad.
Afridi
lauded PCB chief Najam Sethi & his team for their efforts to bring
international cricket back in Pakistan.
