India beat Sri Lanka in fifth ODI to seal 5-0 sweep against the hosts:
Sri
Lanka batted first & they put 238 on board. India chased down the target in
just 46.3 overs & won the fifth ODI by 6 wickets.
Sri
Lanka vs India ODI series had been entirely one sided as India displayed
all-round performance with bat & ball.
Kohli
(110 not out) was the top scorer in this match while Jadhav helped Kohli with
his brilliant 63 runs. Sri Lanka batsmen Thirimanne (67) & Mathews (55)
lifted Sri Lanka to 238 but their bowlers could not defend the target.
Bhuvneshawar (5-42) once again did it for his team as Indian punished Sri Lanka
during batting.
India beat Sri Lanka 5-0 in ODI series. For the first time in cricket history Sri Lanka had been whitewashed at home
Bhuvi’s
5 wicket haul & Kohli’s 30th ton helped team India to secure a 6
wicket win over Sri Lanka in the last ODI. Sri Lanka had been whitewashed for
the first time at home & the credit goes to Virat Kohli & his team that
played outstanding in this series. Virat Kohli has completed 1000 runs in 2017
& he leveled Ricky Ponting in second place among ODI hundred makers.
Ponting
achieved 30 ODI centuries in 365 ODIs while Kohli had achieved the milestone in
just 186 ODIs.
Sri
Lanka made a fourth wicket partnership of 122 runs but the lower orders could
not survive Indian bowling attack & the entire team collapsed to 238.
Hardik
Pandya was not included in Indian team & they decided to include an extra
specialist bowler in place of Pandya.
India
had to chase a low total but they did not have that extra all-rounder at No. 7.
India also made 375 runs in fourth ODI against Sri Lanka on the same pitch.
