James Anderson became the top ICC Test Player

James Anderson overtakes Ravindra Jadeja to grab top spot in ICC Test Player Rankings:

James Anderson topped the ICC Test Player Ranking table after his brilliant performance against West Indies. England beat West Indies in third Test by 9 wickets & they also won the Test series 2-0. This is the second series victory for Joe Root & being captain he won 2 out of 2 series. Anderson struck his career best figure 7-42 & took a 9 wicket haul against West Indies in third Test match. Anderson overtakes Jadeja to become the top ICC Test Player. India’s Ashwin & Sri Lanka’s Herath took the third & fourth spot in latest ICC Test Player Rankings.

James Anderson topped the ranking in August 2016, has once again reclaimed the top spot to become the oldest bowler to be number one ranked since Sri Lanka Muralidaran in July 2009 & the oldest pace bolwer to be at the top of the chart since Australia’s McGrath in January 2016.

This has been the great year for James Anderson & he also completed his 500th Test wickets against West Indies.  

England Ben Stokes has also raised himself in the Test rankings after he was awarded man of the match trophy against West Indies in third Test. He scored 60 runs in first innings that lifted him 4 places to a career best twentieth position among batsmen while his first innings haul of 6-22 lifted him two places up to reach twenty first spot in the ICC Test bowler ranking. Stokes overtakes Moeen Ali to take the fourth position in ICC Test all rounders.

Moeen Ali also jumped in the ICC Test bowler ranking to reach 19th position while Toby Roland-Jones was impressive & he become 41st ranked bowler in Tests.

West Indies batsman Shai Hope shared the man of the series trophy with Anderson & he jumped to 30th spot while Kieran Powell has secured 68th place in Test batsman ranking.

Kemar Roach has secured 24th place after a 5 wicket haul in first innings while Jason Holder has moved up three places to reach 33rd place in ICC Test bowler rankings.

The ICC Test Team Ranking has not changed for both teams. England & West Indies retain their pre series 105 & 75 points.
