India beat Sri Lanka in first ODI by 9 wickets:
India
won the toss for the 4th time against Sri Lanka & skipper Virat
Kohli elected to field first.
Sri
Lanka made 216 in first batting & India in reply made 220-1 to beat Sri
Lanka by 9 wickets with 21.1 overs remaining. The top scorers from Sri Lanka
were Dickwella 64 & Mathews 36 while Indian top batsmen include Dhawan 132*
& Kohli 82*. Sri Lanka bowlers could not control the Indian batsmen despite
Lasith Malinga's comeback. The game was entirely one sided as India made a comeback in the game despite brilliant start from Sri Lanka & Virat Kohli was
thinking that they would be chasing a target close to 300. The Indian bowlers
really contributed as Axar Patel took 3 wickets & he was helped by Jadhav
who dismissed 2 batsmen.
Shikar Dhawan completed his century in just 71 balls
For
half of their innings, Sri Lanka really looked like a team that would post a
big total on board but was unlucky in the remaining half as they could not
stand against spin bowling attack. From 139-1, Sri Lanka collapsed to 216 all
out as they kept losing wickets after the top order batsmen did their best. The
part time spinner Jadhav bowled 5 overs & his ball was not really turning
but still he got a couple of wickets as Sri Lanka batsmen were not looking to stay
on the crease. Something strange were happening with Sri Lanka during batting
as they lost their wickets in a row.
Shikar
Dhawan made his quickest ODI hundred in just 71 balls as India looked strong in
batting. He alone struck more boundaries than the entire opposition. He
entertained the cricket fans with his shots variation. At the other end Kohli
made stunning 82 to win the ODI match for India by nine wickets with 21.1 overs
to spare.
Something
weird happened to Sri Lanka as they were hoping to score 300+ but they lost 9
quick wickets for just adding 77 runs.

Dhawan received the man of the match award for his blistering innings of 132
not out.
