Ashwin becomes the fourth quickest bowler who scored 2000
runs & took 250 wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin proved that he is one of
the important player in team India who can be good with bat & ball. His half
century helped team India to post a big total of 622-9. Ashwin also crushed the
Sri Lanka top order as Sri Lanka only managed to score 50 runs while losing two
wickets at stumps day two.
Ashwin becomes 4th fastest bowler to reach 2000 runs & 250 Test wickets
India lost both the batsmen who scored centuries on the
second morning, India needed someone to play big innings & here comes
Ashwin who stayed on the crease & his 54 runs contribution helped his team
to put a huge total on board. This is Ashwin’s 11th half century
& he hits it with a massive. This is Ashwin’s 10th score of 50+
in Test while coming out at number 6 or lower since 2015.
Ashwin reached the milestone of 2000 runs which made him the
quickest all rounder to reach 2000 Test runs & 250 Test wickets, surpassing
Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham & Imran Khan.
In terms of completing 2000 Test runs & 200 wickets,
Botham, Kapil Dev & Imran Khan are little bit ahead of Ashwin. The reason
is that Ashwin did not get a chance to bat on several occasions due to team
India remarkable top order.
