Sri Lanka refused PCB invitation to play T20 series in Pakistan:

Sri Lanka cricket board has refused to send their team to Pakistan after last week suicide bomb blast in Lahore. Earlier Pakistan cricket board invited Sri Lanka cricket board to play T20 series in Pakistan which has been turn down by Sri Lanka.

PCB Chairman, Shaharyar confirmed that the Sir Lanka cricket board will not send their squad to play two match T20 series in Pakistan.

Shaharyar told that earlier he had spoken to his Sri Lanka cricket counterpart during the ICC meetings & he had invited him to send his squad to Lahore for the T20 series against Pakistan with rest of the games to be played in the UAE.

Khan told that he had been convinced by the Sri Lankan cricket head that he would talk to his govt. & get clearance for the T20 series.

Shaharyar told that he is shocked at Sri Lanka’s refusal because terror hits are happening in the whole planet & it seems quick surprising to just point out Pakistan for security grounds.

PCB chairman told that earlier they had carried out PSL final in Lahore & offered top security for the event.

Shaharyar said that the ICC came to Pakistan to check out the security arrangements & they pointed out few lacks in the security grounds which PCB said to resolve in the future but they were satisfied with the security provided for the PSL final.

Earlier Sri Lanka team was attacked in Lahore in 2009 & after that the revival of cricket in Pakistan is the major issue that PCB faced as they have to arrange their home cricket series in UAE.

Sri Lanka legend Sangakkara said that the team was sent to Pakistan in 2009 by the board despite players were not agreed due to security alert in Pakistan.

PCB chairman told that Pakistan & Sri Lanka series will now be held in UAE.

Shaharyar also told that after the recent suicide attack in Lahore they did not receive any response from ICC on the planned tour by the World eleven to Pakistan.

He said that he met Giles Clarke in London & they finalized the budget & other aspects of the proposed tour of World eleven to Pakistan but after the suicide attack in Lahore they are not sure about the current situation but they are hopeful that the tour will go ahead finally.

Shaharyar told that Clarke was happy with the Pakistan victory in ICC Champions Trophy after the team went through major up & downs in cricket.

Khan is upset as the revival of cricket in Pakistan is even now in doubt despite the team was victorious in ICC Champions Trophy & the bilateral series with India is another frustration for him.
