Pakistan New Test Records in Gabba:

Pakistan cricket team has made few records in a test match at Gabba which tourist lost by 39 runs. Australia completely dominated the match till night play on 4th day of test. Pakistani batsman started to play aggressively and scored runs at a brisk rate. Australian bowlers were under pressure for the first time in 4 days of game. A confident Australian side asked for time extension, they believed they would win the game. Extension of time proved to be vital for Pakistan as they took every opportunity to score runs and kept scoreboard ticking. Pakistan couldn't complete a world record chase in test but end up making a new world record of scoring highest 4th innings runs at Gabba. And equaled third highest 4th innings score in test match history. Pakistan previous highest fourth innings total is 382/3 against Sri Lanka and broke its own record by making 450 runs.

Asad Shafiq made his 9th test century while batting at number 6 which is a new world record. Shafiq with nine centuries broke all time record of Garry Sobers of 8 test centuries while batting at number six. Asad Shafiq at match ceremony said, "I was hitting the ball well in the nets. A matter of time before I had a good innings. (the tail) showed a lot of courage and funk. We almost chased 490, because of our tail. There was energy (in the morning), thinking we had to go for a match. I was not expecting that from Starc, he bowled a couple of really good spells." Asad Shafiq is the only batsman in test history who is ever involved in three 50-plus partnerships along with last four batsman. He also set a record by scoring third highest individual score of 137 while chasing in fourth innings. He also established a record of highest runs in 4th innings at Gabba. Asad Shafiq is declared Player of the Match at Gabba test.

Pakistan last 4 batsman added 230 runs, it is the highest score ever made by any team while chasing a total in test history. The previous highest runs record by last 4 wickets is 227 by India. Pakistan beat a record made by India over 4 years ago. They also set their own record for highest runs ever scored by last four batsman in Pakistan test history.

Pakistan last 4 batsman made three 50 plus partnership which is a record for team. In History no team have ever had their last 4 wickets managing a 3 fifty plus partnership. Pakistan set a new world record in test by achieving this milestone. Pakistan also set their individual record for partnerships among tail-enders. Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah scored 71 runs for 9th wicket. Asad Shafiq along with Wahab Riaz scored 66 runs for 8th wicket and a 92 runs partnership between Shafiq and Mohammad Amir for 7th wicket.

Pakistani legend Imran Khan said about the game on twitter, "Great fightback by Pak in Brisbane led by gutsy Shafiq.There's no shame in losing when team fights to the last ball. They have made us proud." Good Luck Pakistan in remaining matches on tour of Australia.
