Karim Aims To Do Social Welfare Works:
Afghanistan wicket keeper Karim Sadiq wants to be a social worker after his retirement from Afghanistan cricket team. Karim Sadiq is currently keeping wickets for the team and bat as right-hand batsman. Karim has made 475 runs in ODI, 72 runs in T20 internationals, 496 in first class cricket, 1118 in List A games and 892 runs in Twenty20 matches. He has contributed in 39 dismissals overall which were all caught behind. 33 year old Karim wish to do social work once his cricket career is over. Karim wants to help widows, poor and orphans by improving their lives and providing better opportunities to them. Karim stated, “One who cares for widows and the poor is like those who fight in the way of Allah.” He added, Playing cricket is my passion but helping widows, poor and the orphan is Jehad and my core responsibility as mentioned in Quran.”
With a cricket career spanning over 7 years, Karim believes that he is still fit and will keep playing international and domestic cricket. “I am fit and playing for my country, and this is my dream to see Afghanistan flag climb in every field of life. I am playing cricket whether it is at the national or domestic level or leagues, I think I am fit for the game,” he added. Karim has played 24 ODI, 34 T20, 10 First class, 45 List A and 56 Twenty20 matches. Most of readers won't know that apart from batting and keeping, Karim is also a right-arm offbreak bowler. He has taken 6 ODI wickets, 14 T20 wickets, 2 First class wickets, 25 List A wickets and 27 Twenty20 wickets, which is 74 wickets all together in his bowling career. After serving country in sports of cricket, his passion of serving people in country is at its peak.
Karim is very religious and he has a very kind heart. He wants to dedicate his life to social welfare works after retirement from cricket. He has established Karim Sadiq Foundation with an aim to provide education to children from poor families and background. He express his desire to enter politics and serve his country but is also aware that he can serve country in many other ways rather than becoming a leader. Karim told ACB media, “I wish to enter politics, however, some well-wishers and close friends have advised me against it. In my eyes, a politician is a public servant and he should serve people.” Karim wants to establish a school for orphan kids in war effected zone in Afghanistan like Nangrahar, Helmand and Urozgan and enrich lives of widows and poor people of Afghanistan.
