Dale Steyn has Successful Shoulder Surgery:
Dale Steyn sustained a shoulder injury during South Africa tour of Australia and went for surgery in South Africa. Dale Steyn shoulder surgery was successful and now has to wait for bone to heal before he can start rehabilitation. Dale was bowling in the first match at WACA and shortly after taking wicket of David Warner he injured his right shoulder after a delivery. Steyn was taken off the field and rushed to hospital for MRI. Steyn has a history of injury in the same shoulder but previously it was hairline fracture but this time it is a broken bone. Steyn flew back home on the final day of test match, South Africa won first test match later on during the 5th day. Dale Steyn told channel 9, "I felt this pop or like a thud in my shoulder. There was a lot of pain," Steyn said. "I had to go off the field and have an MRI. I did something very similar against England in December in a similar area but it wasn't as bad. That was a stress reaction, which is like a very hairline little crack. This time it's more like a fracture. It's kind of broken the whole bone."
Steyn shoulder surgery was a success. He will begin his rehabilitation after few weeks after bone is healed. It is a great news for Dale Steyn fans and cricket lovers that he will recover with in 6 months and back in action. South Africa cricket board has promised to provide the best support they can to make sure Steyn does his return to cricket ASAP. "Dale had successful surgery on Thursday where the fracture in the right shoulder blade was fixated with the placement of a screw," Moosajee was quoted as saying in a press release. "We expect a minimum six-month rehabilitation period before he can start any form of bowling. It is crucial to give the injury enough time to heal and to make sure that he is completely pain-free before he starts bowling again.
