Azhar Ali Climbed Up in Test Ranking:
Pakistan limited over captain Azhar Ali has climbed up to career best ICC test ranking. Azhar Ali was on 17th rank in ICC test ranking before Pakistan win over West Indies in first Test Match. Azhar Ali is now number 12 in test ranking and it is his best ranking in Test matches. Azhar Ali scored triple century in first innings and became fourth Pakistani batsman to achieve this milestone. Azhar was not out on 302 when Pakistani captain Misbah declare the innings. Azhar Ali might move to top 10 if he display such good form with the bat in rest of the Test Series.
Azhar Ali batting in longer format is always praised by cricket fans. He moved ahead of fellow team mate Asad Shafiq (16) and one spot behind Mishab (11). Azhar Ali new rating 754 granted him 12th position in test batting ranking, thanks to his triple century and not getting out. Younus Khan is only Pakistani batsman in top 10 test ranking with a rank of number 5 with 837 ratings. This is the best test ranking for Azhar Ali, he is the 12th best batsman in ICC test ranking and more improvement will be made in his batting skills with experience.

According to MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings released on 18-10-2016, Steve Smith is number 1 test batsman followed by Joe Root on 2nd place and Hashim Amla on 3rd spot. Pakistani batsman Younus Khan is on 5th position while Misbah on 11 and Azhar Ali on 12th place in Test batsman ranking.

Azhar Ali ranking as a batsman in Test matches is bumped up with his triple century and leaving the field with out getting out. However, Azhar got out cheaply in second innings of Pakistan first test against West Indies. If he had score some more runs then he could have easily moved to top 10 test batsman in the world. Azhar is currently 1 rating short of Misbah and 25 short of Alastair Cook. If Azhar Ali bat well in next four innings of test series then no doubt he will register his name in ICC top 10 Test batsman list.
