Salman Butt Return to Pakistan Cricket Team:
Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt wants to return to Pakistan cricket team after end of his 5 year ban for spot fixing scandal in England. Salman Butt played a great knock in Pakistan National T20 cup, 2016. His sparkling show in T20 tournament is highlights of his return. Salman Butt scored 350 runs in 8 T20 innings at a strike rate of 140. On back of his performance last year in domestic one day tournament where he scored 536 runs at an average of 107 in National one day cup in 2015. Salman Butt would be eligible to start first class cricket in October 2016.
If Salman Butt performs well in first class cricket then he will be knocking on selectors door soon. Salman Butt performance in Test cricket is exceptional but his strike rate in ODI and T20 would be a bit of concern for Pakistan Cricket Board. Game has moved on since Butt's ban in 2010, cricket fielding rules has changed and batsmen have gone really aggressive towards bowler. Salman Butt has missed all the fun and entertainment of cricket by not being able to play competitive cricket. Salman Butt will turn 32 in October, 2016 and in Pakistan cricket culture, selection board always prefer youngsters.
Salman Butt comments went public after Saeed Ajmal express his desire to play again for Pakistan. Saeed Ajmal came back to international cricket after remodeling his bowling action. His come back last year against Bangladesh wasn't a pleasant one. Saeed Ajmal was dropped from Pakistan squad after conclusion of Pakistan tour of Bangladesh. Salam Butt believes in fitness and not age of player. He feels fit and feels like he can play for longer period of time like Misbah and Younis Khan. Salman Butt said, "Misbah has proved to everyone through his dedication and fitness that you can fight on at that age. If you keep working hard, then your body responds in a certain way, so it's about being committed, like Misbah has shown."
Butt has gone through ICC anti corruption programs organized by PCB and has admitted to his mistake publicly. Salman Butt doesn't want to remember past and want to move ahead with his life and cricket career. Butt well deserve a second chance after displaying his fitness, form and batting skills at domestic level of Pakistan cricket. Salman Butt wants a second chance and want to return to Pakistan cricket team. Good Luck Butt, hope to see you back in Pakistan cricket team.
