Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Waqar Younis as head coach of Pakistan. Waqar Younis was a specialist fast bowler and former coach of Pakistan team for about one and a half year. During his short period of coaching, Younis lead Pakistan team to qualify for semi finals in 2010 World Twenty20 & also in 2011 World Cup. Waqar Younis will again join as national team coach after former coach Moin Khan contract is over. Former coach Moin Khan received contract for a short period of two months & he lead Pakistan team during Asia Cup & World Twenty20, 2014. Moin Khan selected Waqar Younis as national team coach and himself was named as selector & back to Pakistan team manager. Chairman Najam Sethi signed a 2 year contract with Waqar on Tuesday, 6th May, 2014. Waqar Younis will lead Pakistan against Sri Lanka in July followed by series with Australia & New Zealand in UAE.

"I am extremely pleased to have been selected as the head coach."
It's a good news that PCB is utilizing experience of ex players rather than going for overseas coaches. Pakistan players would have the luxury of open communication with Waqar because of same language.
