Spot fixing: Sharjeel's appeal was dismissed

Sharjeel Khan's appeal of reducing 5 years ban was dismissed:

Pakistani players faced charges in front of a tribunal as the Pakistan cricket board looked into alleged fraud during the PSL 2017. The players include Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Shahzaib Hasan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Nawaz & Nasir Jamshed that were found guilty in spot fixing scandal earlier this year.

Sharjeel Khan's appeal to reduce 5 years ban was dismissed by Faqir Khokhar

Faqir Khokhar has maintained Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan’s 5 year ban from all cricket formats as Khan risked his career by playing two dot balls in PSL 2017 tournament. Pakistan cricket board had requested to increase Sharjeel Khan’s ban but Khokhar also rejected PCB appeal.

Sharjeel was found responsible by a 3 men tribunal  of all 5 charges brought against him by the PCB in relation to the spot fixing case & he had been banned for 5 years – half of which was suspended –handed down to him. However both parties headed a request against the decision, with Khan challenging all 5 allegations against him.

Sharjeel Khan’s lawyer Shaigan Ijaz, argued that the tribunal’s judgment was based on rumor & PCB did not find the proof & the cross assessment of the PCB's witnesses was not read correctly. Justice (retd) Khokhar made a decision to uphold the penalty.

PCB had filed a request directly after Sharjeel had exercised his right to request, on the same day. PCB wanted to extend Sharjeel Khan’s 5 years penalty to life time ban. The allegations were based on Sharjeel Khan’s playing 2 dot balls during the opening match of Pakistan Super League 2017. He was charged of pre-arranging with a bookie to play those 2 deliveries.
