USA Cricket Team on Top:

United States of America cricket is heading towards ultimate goal and getting on top of other cricket league teams.  USA lost last two matches in ICC World Cricket League division 4 but made it to finals due to run rate. USA defeated Oman in the final match and won ICC WCL Division 4 trophy. Through out the tournament USA bowling and batting unit clicked but it was their fielding which was letting them down in almost every match. Drop catches and mis-fielding cost USA extra runs and chances that could have been taken. USA lost both matches by narrow margin in the tournament which is a positive sign but they will have to work hard to mentally prepare themselves and turn those lost matches to wins. USA has got bowlers and batters as their backup unit, which is an asset to the team. Talent is growing among youngsters in USA and cricket game is developing at a rapid speed. USA cricket team is on top of WCL division 4 and is an unstoppable threat to other WCL teams.

USA cricket coach Dassanayake only believes in wins and he wants USA team to aim for same goal. United States of America made it possible by getting back in the game after couple of loses. They came back strongly after getting little things right which paid in the end. "I took this job to take in that challenge that I want to win tournaments," Dassanayake told ESPNcricinfo. "I wouldn't have settled for runner-up in the final. The first five games in the league round, I was not that happy the way we fielded and some of the things that happened on the field. We had long, long chats in team meetings. "In the final, when I saw everybody putting that extra effort on the field doing the small things right to win the game, that was the number one moment for me. As a coach, when you set up a plan and the whole team is buying into it and doing that thing on the field, that's a fantastic feeling. So a lot of credit to the boys and I'm very happy how things went in the final." USA recent success in cricket can be credited to teams efforts on the field and off the field. Positive mind set and striving for a win made USA cricket team and unstoppable threat to its competitors.

USA captain Steven Taylor has copped up well with captaincy responsibility. He is only 23 but has played a lot of cricket since 2010. His leadership abilities have gone stronger and he has learnt a lot in past few games. It was Taylor first assignment as USA cricket team captain and USA won the tournament under his captaincy. Coach said, "Overall I'm very happy how Steven performed from the bat, ball and as a captain," Dassanayake said. "This is his first tour as a captain and there were downs as well during this tournament but for a leader it's all about taking gambles and you stand for your decisions. He's a character like that and I think he's going to be a top captain in the coming days". Taylor contributed with bat and ball and made some really good decisions to make things right. By the end of tournament Taylor brought the team together and surprised coach with his field settings capabilities and rotating his bowlers. Taylor is most likely to be retained captain of the team when USA goes head to head with other teams in ICC WCL Division 3 which will start in April 2017.
