Dale Steyn has Fractured Shoulder

Dale Steyn Ruled out of Test Series:

Steyn is ruled out of South Africa tour of Australia test series 2016 due to fractured right shoulder. Steyn had shoulder injury in the past which was hairline crack that kept him out of cricket for three months. But this time injury is bit severe and Dale Steyn would require a surgery on his shoulder. It is estimated that he will be out of action for at least six months. This news came as a big blow to South Africa team and all cricket fans around the world. Dale Steyn sustained shoulder injury shortly after taking wicket of David Warner, he is only 5 wicket short of becoming Proteas leading wicket taker in test.

Fractured shoulder ruled Steyn out Test

Dale Steyn told Channel 9, "I felt this pop or like a thud in my shoulder. There was a lot of pain,". Steyn added, "I had to go off the field and have an MRI. I did something very similar against England in December in a similar area but it wasn't as bad. That was a stress reaction, which is like a very hairline little crack. This time it's more like a fracture. It's kind of broken the whole bone. I will probably have surgery and a plate in there. So we're probably looking at a minimum of six months before I'm up and going again". Dale Steyn would have to give this injury time so it can heal properly. Steyn will fly back to South Africa to see a specialist after conclusion of WACA test match. He will not bowl or field in remainder of test match but might bat if it is really necessary.

South Africa team manager, Mohammed Moosajee said that board will give him best facilities so that he can recover fast and be able to play again for the team. Dale Steyn would be missed as he is the South Africa pace spearhead. It is hard to replace a fast bowler who can constantly hit 150 km/h. "He is extremely disappointed at the moment but knowing Dale, he will come back stronger," Moosajee said. "We need to to give him the best opportunity to recover because South Africa and the world wants to see Dale Steyn play again."
