Rod Marsh contract will end in 2017, he is Australian cricket chairman of selectors. Rod Marsh advised cricket Australia that he won't renew his contract as selection panel chairman. He became chairman of selectors in 2014 and contract was valid till 2016-2017 summer season. Marsh joined selection panel in 2011. In Australia, Sept to Nov is spring and summer is from Dec til Feb. Which means that Road Marsh would end his tenure before start of Autumn (March, 2017). Marsh decided to resign as chairman of selection panel in 2017 when his contract ends.
Rod Marsh Selection Panel History:
Rod Marsh was selected as part time member of selection panel of Australia cricket in November, 2011. John Inverarity was head of selection panel at that time and Michael Clarke was captain of Australia cricket team. Rod Marsh and John Inverarity played together for WA team, John was captain of team and he led selection panel when Marsh joined as a part-time member. Rod Marsh was promoted to head of national selection panel after Inverarity tenure ended in 2014. Rod started leading selection panel on May 2, 2014 and played an important role in emergence of new talent in Australia cricket. It is time that Marsh decided to step down and not renew his contract.

Australia cricket team went through some ups and downs during Marsh tenure. Australia was ranked number 1 test team in ICC cricket ranking but now at number 3 in test team rank. Australia is leading points table in ICC ODI ranking. Australia won 2015 World cup by beating New Zealand in final at Melbourne. However, recent criticism of his selection was When Brad Haddin was removed from the test squad while Australia was playing England in Ashes. Usman Khwaja was ignored from this year fixtures even though he averaged 120 plus in all format of cricket.
Cricket Australia general manager of team performance, Pat Howard said that he is not in a rush to find Marsh replacement. Marsh has developed a side that is ranked 3rd in Test ranking and number 1 in ODI ranking.
