Bangladesh secured Historic Victory:
Bangladesh beat England in second and final test at Mirpur. Bangladesh decided to stick to their plan and challenged England once again on a spin friendly wicket and resulted in a historic test win. BCB officials and players celebrated historic victory after ceremony ended. This victory means a lot to Bangladesh cricket, it is a win again best team in the world and Bangladesh will hope to carry on good performance against rest of teams in test cricket. Bangladesh lost to England in first test match by a narrow margin, they definitely worked on their mistakes before playing this match. It was the first time Bangladesh decided to play on a wicket that is bowlers friendly. In past all wickets were prepared for batsman so they can hang around for a while and try to draw a test match. Bangladesh attitude towards test cricket has changed now. Bangladesh desire to win test match, and only for winning they decided to play on spin bowling friendly cricket. Bangladesh has win in test matches against West Indies and Zimbabwe only. It was the first time in history that Bangladesh beat England in a test match.Bangladesh Views About Test Victory:
Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim said, "It is a very big achievement in Bangladesh's Test cricket history. It came against a very good England side but there will be a time when we will win a series 2-0 against any big team. "This is a start. It feels great that the younger players are also contributing. We have a number of performers in the team, which is always great for a captain," he said. Bangladesh players were bit slack in fielding but batting and bowling department performed really well. Bangladesh had good opening partnership and all praise to contribution from middle order. Bangladeshi spin bowling dominated England batsman, Shakib-Al-Hasan and youngster Mehedi troubled English batsman in both matches. In the end team with quality cricketers succeeded in bringing glory to their country.
Cook Praised Bangladesh Performance:
England captain Alastair Cook praised Bangladesh performance in the test series. England won first test match by a narrow margin and lost second test match by 108 runs. Cook called it a well deserved victory by Bangladeshi team. After conclusion of match Cook said, "Conditions have been very tough, but I have no complaints about it: that's what Test cricket is about. Bangladesh thoroughly deserved their win. They've obviously taken big strides. They'll find it hard on bouncy wickets, but in these conditions they've a good side." - sourced from espncricinfo. Cook is also aware of challenges England team will face on tour of India. Bangladeshi spinners outclass England spinners with some quality spin, line and length. Cook said, "We didn't bowl great. And yes, their spinners did out-bowl our
spinners. We're not hiding behind the fact that we haven't got
world-class spinners". Mehedi Hasan Miraz took 10 for in the second test match while Moeen and Rashid took 9 wickets all together.
Bangladesh v England 2nd Test Summary:
Bangladesh 1st Innings: Bangladesh scored 220 runs, Tamim Iqbal was top scorer 104 runs and Moeen Ali took 5wickets for 57 runs.
Bangladesh 2nd Innings: 296 runs, Imrul Kayes was top scorer with 78 runs and Adil Rashid took 4 wickets for 52 runs.
England 1st Innings: England scored 244 runs in their first innings, Joe Root with top score of 56 runs, Mehedi Hasan took 6 wickets for 82 runs.
England 2nd Innings: England only managed to score 164 runs in their 2nd innings. Captain Alastair Cook 59 was top performance by batter while Mehedi once again took 6 wickets for 77 runs.
- England target was to score 273 runs, Opening batsman scored 100 runs which left a target of 173 runs with 10 wickets in hands. Bangladesh went through all 10 wickets in final session of the game.
- Mehedi Hasan Miraz is player of the match for his 12 wickets.
- Mehedi made a record of taking most wickets (19) by a Bangladeshi bowler in a test series.
England spin bowling attack of Moeen Ali, Gareth Batty, Adil Rashid and Zafar Ansari is no match to Bangladeshi spin bowling. 19 year old kid in his debut test series took more wickets then England experience bowlers. Shame on England cricket team for such a poor performance. I don't see a reason why selectors would select out of form batsman Garry Balance in the squad.
