Kohli set a record by scoring 200 as captain:

Virat Kohli is the first Indian Test captain to record 200 runs on foreign soil. Kohli was extremely cautious in start of his innings and played some good defensive shots. But as the innings progressed his confidence started to build up and he helped India to put 566 on board in first innings of test against West Indies in Antigua. Kohli made a good use of his cover drive which was exceptional and kept finding gaps. Kohli scored 200 runs with a strike rate of 70.64 and hit 24 marvelous fours and became first test captain of India cricket team to score double ton overseas.

Virat Kohli beat Mohammad Azharuddin record of 192 runs against New Zealand at Auckland in 1990. Kohli broke Azhar record of highest score by Indian captain overseas after 26 years. Virat Kohli also made it to top 5 highest runs scorer by India captain in test matches. It was Kohli maiden double century and Indian skipper had a good support from Ashwin who was promoted up in batting order. And together they had 168 runs partnership for the 5th wicket.

2. Sachin Tendulkar -- 217 runs
3. Sunil Gavaskar -- 205 runs
4. MAK Pataudi -- 203 runs (not out)
5. Virat Kohli -- 200 runs

  1. India scored 566 runs for loss of 8 wickets in first innings of Test 1 against West Indies. After declaration on 2nd day, West Indies played really poor game. West Indies only managed to score 243 runs was were forced to follow on. Yadav and Mohammad Shami took 4 wickets each in first bowling innings. West Indies are on 21 for 1 in their second innings, Ishant Sharma was the only wicket taker. Outcome of test match is clearly visible, India is in a strong position to take 1-0 lead in Test series.
