Saqlain Hired as England Spin Coach For Pak Tour

Saqlain Mushtaq as England Spin Coach:

ECB hired Saqlain Mushtaq as spin bowling consultant ahead of 2nd Investec Test against Pakistan. England won the second Test match comfortably by 330 runs. Saqlain was working hard with Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid but only Moeen played in the 2nd match. Saqlain helped both English spinners in tactical preparation, how to set field and how to bowl to different players. Moeen Ali bowled a few beamers in last few Test matches, which is a bit of concern for England team. If he doesn't fix this problem then he might get suspended from bowling in a match and England would be short by a bowler.

Saqlain Hired as England spin consultant

Saqlain former Pakistan off spinner invented doosra, it has been learnt that Moeen Ali has developed his own doosra but hasn't experimented it much. Saqlain guidance could help him to gain confidence to deliver his special delivery in matches.  England has hired a lot of former international players in past as short term bowling and batting consultants. Mushtaq Ahmed was England's bowling coach for a while and Mahela Jawayardene was hired as batting consultant to tackle the spin. Saqlain came under some criticism by Pakistani fans especially on social media Twitter for his support to England team, some even called him a traitor. He is going through same time as Muralitharan is going through now during current series between Australia and Sri Lanka. Both bowlers came under fire by helping opponent team.

Shahid Afridi defended Saqlain Mushtaq's current role, as sharing knowledge and skills is good for development of sport and it will make teams more competitive. Afridi asked Pakistani cricket fans to respect Saqlain for his job as a coach and don't label him as a traitor. Former Pakistani players also came out in defense of Saqlain. Former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Yousuf said Pakistan lost 2nd test match because of bad shot selection, it has nothing to do with Saqlain coaching England team to tackle the spin. Azhar Mahmood, Pakistan former player told his Twitter followers that coaching is Saqlain's profession and he is still making Pakistan proud.

Rumors are that England head coach Trevor Bayliss is interested in hiring Saqlain Mushtaq as spin bowling consultant for upcoming tour of Bangladesh and India this year. Tour of Bangladesh is still under scrutiny due to security condition but tour of India will go ahead as planned. Apart from England winning second test match, a positive feed back from Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid is a bonus to his rehiring chances in future. Moeen Ali, called Saqlain a great coach and a great guy. Saqlain was no doubt a spin guru of his cricketing era but now he is intelligently transferring his skills for a good cause.
