It is West Indies first ODI victory against Australia since March 2012 which makes it over 4 years of no success in this format of game against world leading ODI team. Host chased down Australian total of 265 with 4 wickets in hands and few overs to spare. Usman Khwaja 98 went in vain as Samuels 92 rescued West Indies who was Man of the Match as well. West Indies scored 74 runs in first 10 overs while Australian innings was sloppy in start, only scoring 40 runs in first 60 balls that made a big difference in the end.
Captain Steven Smith and opener Usman Khwaja gave Australia a solid start but rest of the batsman could not capitalize on their good performance, and innings faltered from there on. Sloppy display in fielding made it easier for West Indies to keep putting pressure back on Australia in this intense chase. Smith wasn't happy with over all performance and called it a 2 pace pitch which was hard to play on in the start because of extra bounce.
Stats: 7 consecutive defeats for West Indies against Australia since March 2012; record is 14 defeats in the past against same opponent.
