BCCI hosting Mini IPL in September:
There have been rumor about Indian Premier League governing body is keen in hosting a mini IPL in September. India won't be playing any cricket form of cricket in September and there is a possibility of staging a mini version of IPL in that window. BCCI abolished Champions League T20 last year and it won't be part of their plans in future again. Main reason of not playing Champions League is low interest and sponsorship issue. There have been speculations since then that BCCI would come up with a short version of IPL to replace Champions League Twenty20 to keep interest of stake holders alive. |
Mini IPL 2016 |
Mini IPL could be 2-3 weeks long and might feature all the eight IPL regular franchise teams. It has been suggested that mini-IPL could be held outside India, 2 major countries like USA and UAE are inline of hosting this short version of mega tournament. USA could be favorite after hosting 'Cricket All Stars' series organized by Shane Watson and Sachin Tendulkar that attracted thousands of fan. It would be a wise decision to move small version of IPL to states. It is a serious consideration of launching 'Mini IPL' by BCCI to exploit the overseas market for the most popular domestic T20 tournament.
