Anil Kumble new Head Coach of India:
Former Indian player and test captain, Anil Kumble is appointed new head coach of Indian cricket team. 57 applications were received by BCCI for this role and it took them almost a month to decide who would best fit this job. Initially Kumble wasn't shortlisted for the role by BCCI secretary Ajay, however; Kumble was later on included after recommendations made by Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman. Since, then Kumble began the favorite candidate and managed to skip pass other local and foreign experience coach. |

BCCI president Anuraj Thakur said that they have selected Anil Kumble on 1 year contract basis. His first coaching assignment would be India tour of West Indies in July. They didn't wanted to give him a lengthy contract since next world cup is in 2019. Meanwhile Kumble have got opportunity to prove himself in India's tight cricket schedule ahead. Kumble would be the first Indian player assigned a full time Indian cricket team coach since resignation of Kapil Dev in Sept, 2000.
