34th match of IPL was played between Kings XI Punjab & Kolkata Knight Riders on 11th May, 2014 at Cuttack. Kings XI Punjab batted first against KKR. KXIP surely had a high total in mind but KKR bowlers restricted KXIP batsmen to only an average score of 149. Virender Sehwag was the only high scorer from KXIP batting side who scored 72 runs in 50 balls. Piyush Chawla 3-19 was the top bowler from KKR bowling side. KKR started their batting exceptionally well as Gambhir & Uthappa made an opening stand of 68 runs after that Uthappa departs for 46 in just 28 balls. Gambhir made another stand with Pandey & their partnership never ends as KKR completed the chase in just 18 overs. Gautham Gambhir became the top scorer for Knight Riders by making 63 off 45 balls. Gambhir also received the Player of the match award.
It was Gambhir's good captaincy to bowl first and he also included Morne Morkel and Piyush Chawla in playing XI. Morkel & Chawla shared 5 wickets between them for 49 runs in 8 overs. KKR is now ranked at number 4 in IPL Points Table.

Good to see KKR batting in a stable form now, they made it look easy to chase total by not giving away their wickets. a captain knock by Gambhir sealed them an other victory. KKR just need to focus on their batting if they want to stay in competition. they defeated strongest team in IPL 7.
