Sachin Tendulkar after retiring from cricket has shown interest in buying football franchise. Apart from Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, bollywood star Salman khan and Ranbir Kapoor have shown interest in owning franchises in Indian Super League, also called ISL and are most likely to succeed. A lot of other high profile names have lost their bid in ISL after initial interest. Sachin might get Kochi franchise while Ganguly and Ranbir have shown interest in Kolkata and Mumbai franchises respectively. Salman Khan is willing to get Pune franchise.
Sachin Tendulkar wants to get franchise in ISL
ISL is new IPL style football league and is managed by IMG-Reliance, commercial partner of All India Football Federation.

I think he just want to do some investment in other sports after retiring from cricket. It won't be easy to buy a franchise in IPL so better give it a go at other sports.
