Mick Newell is the longest serving head coach in county cricket. He is 49 year old and has been with Nottinghamshire for 30 years, first as player and then as coach. He has been working as head coach with Nottinghamshire for past 12 years. "I have a great job here at Nottinghamshire," he said. "But the England role is the ultimate for an English coach. I'm sure any coach will tell you they would love to work with the very best players their country has to offer." Newell is expecting an interview with in next 2 weeks, could be even on this weekend.
Mick Newell competing with others to get England coaching role
Apart from Newell, Peter Moores, Mark Robinson, Trevor Bayliss and Ashley Giles are short listed for this role as well. Ashley Giles was favourite for this role but since England defeat to Holland and poor performance through out ICC World Twenty20, his position is in doubt now.
