Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is "extremely disappointed and annoyed" that his name has been dragged into spot fixing controversy and has offered to give up CSK captaincy. Harish Salve, a senior advocate accused Indian cricket team and Chennai Super Kings IPL team captain Dhoni of giving false statement about role of Gurunath Meiyappan, the son in law of former BCCI president N Srinivasan. However, BCCI is defending Dhoni by stating wrong allegations have been made against him and he has got nothing to do with alleged corruption in IPL case.
MS Dhoni has sued Zee Network Rs. 100 crore over defamatory news and Indian High Court has restrained the media (Zee TV) from telecasting any news involving Dhoni and IPL case. It is obvious that institutional integrity is above everything else. BCCI should think of future of game cricket not its players and its officials. If anyone has done anything wrong then they should be able to justify it. Same is case with Dhoni, Harish insisted, Dhoni must answer why he lied by describing G.Meiyappan as "just a cricket enthusiast", though he is a key member of the team's management.
